When I see these vintage drawings in old books from the 50's I can't help but think of my 95 year old Grammy about forty years earlier in her very retro red kitchen with its steel legged table and gingham ruffled curtains. I think the whole carving of the ham ritual was probably the only occasion my Grandfather actually lent a hand in the kitchen. Despite my traditional values and love for vintage style, I'm sure glad we've come a long way since these drawings were created. Can't help but love the look on their faces. Billy and Jane are probably in the family room playing Wii on the little black and white television. Ah simpler times.
